Basketball Recap: Ontario Christian Takes a Loss

Ontario Christian was the 74-62 winner over Linfield Christian when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ontario Christian Knights were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to the Linfield Christian Lions. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Ontario Christian still got an impressive performance from Cole Jones, who posted 22 points and six rebounds. Jones' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mason Salazar, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points.

Even though they lost, Ontario Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Linfield Christian only pulled down two offensive rebounds.

Linfield Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julius Brower led the charge by going 10 of 14 en route to 24 points along with five assists and five boards. With that strong performance, Brower is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Daniel Crawford was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Ontario Christian's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-11. As for Linfield Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.

Ontario Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-58 defeat against Aquinas on the 21st. Linfield Christian has also already played their next game, a 57-44 win against Hoover on the 18th.
