Westview hasn't had much luck against East Noble recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 10:00 a.m. Westview has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Westview is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Eastside on Thursday. They lost 12-1 to the Blazers. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Myra Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, East Noble made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bremen on Thursday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Lions. Considering the Knights have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Paige Griggs made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Emmerson Rhoades was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Bortner, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
East Noble is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Westview, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like East Noble struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westview suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to East Noble when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
