Volleyball Recap: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Valhalla Norsemen
El Capitan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Valhalla Norsemen. The Vaqueros were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Norsemen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
El Capitan was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-15.
Nicholas Patterson paced El Capitan's offense, picking up 14 kills. Patterson got some help from Jacob Marquez and his 15 assists. Finally, Marquez was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.
Luke D'Alessio was the offensive standout of the contest as he had 15 digs. He has been hot, having posted 15 or more digs the last seven times he's played.
El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Valhalla, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan will welcome Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Valhalla, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monte Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
