The South Central Satellites will square off against the Fremont Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
South Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Triton. The Satellites might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Ashlen Strauch was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlee Cavinder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
South Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, while Fremont put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Lakewood Park Christian. The Eagles put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
The team relied heavily on Chloe Verdin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Mallorie Huffnagle was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Fremont's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for South Central, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.
Fremont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Fremont, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given South Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
South Central got the 'W' when the teams last played back in June of 2025 against Fremont by a conclusive 9-0 score. Will the Satellites repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
