Softball Recap: Jefferson Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Jefferson came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Irvin Rockets as they made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Silver Foxes have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Nayeli Luna made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Jefferson let Elizabella Qui?onez and Isabel Sealey run wild. Qui?onez went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Sealey scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Qui?onez is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Luz Ayala, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irvin only posted an OBP of .500.

Jefferson pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Irvin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Jefferson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-4 loss against Burges on the 19th. As for Irvin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 24-2 defeat against Bowie on the 19th.
