Softball Recap: Abington Galloping Ghosts vs. Upper Dublin Cardinals
Abington extended their losing streak to ten on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Upper Dublin Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 back in March.
As for Upper Dublin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.
For Upper Dublin's part, Kyla Garrison made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Garrison has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Abington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Cheltenham on the 2nd. As for Upper Dublin, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Mt. St. Joseph Academy at 4:00 p.m.
