Softball Recap: Marksville Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Marksville's offense. They fell just short of the Jena Giants by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 6-2 to the Giants when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Katie Lachney spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Marksville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Jena, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marksville will face off against Caldwell Parish at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jena, they will challenge Florien at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
