Softball Recap: Blackford Victorious

Blackford hadn't done well against Elwood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bruins walked away with a 10-6 win over the Panthers. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Braelynn Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kinze Clamme was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Townsend-Strait, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Blackford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Blackford's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Elwood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Blackford has already played their next game (against Maconaquah), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Elwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 13-12 defeat against Wabash on the 15th.
