Basketball Recap: Jourdyn Kekauoha-Viena's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kalaheo over Nanakuli

On Tuesday, the Kalaheo Mustangs were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 71-66 to the Nanakuli Golden Hawks. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jourdyn Kekauoha-Viena, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Kekauoha-Viena is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kavi Frankson, who posted four points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Kalaheo fell to 2-1. As for Nanakuli, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Kalaheo will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Castle at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. As for Nanakuli, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-26 defeat against Konawaena on the 5th.
