Softball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Logansport

Logansport waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Benton Central Bison get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The Berries might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by eight runs or more this season.

Maddy Baumgardner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rylinn Spradling was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Kellyn Cripe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Logansport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benton Central only posted an OBP of .211.

Logansport pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Benton Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Logansport will have a chance to go back-to-back against Benton Central: the pair will be back at it again later today.
