Baseball Game Preview: Weston Ranch Cougars vs. Chavez Titans

For the second straight game, Weston Ranch will face off against Chavez. The Cougars will welcome the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Weston Ranch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Weston Ranch will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Chavez on Wednesday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 12-6 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Nico Orona was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Weston Ranch is 2-1 when Orona posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-10 otherwise.

Chavez is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-22. As for Weston Ranch, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
