Baseball Recap: Vestal Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Horseheads, Vestal was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Owego Free Academy River Hawks by a score of 7-4. The win continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the River Hawks: they've now won four in a row.

Parker Terrell looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, JT Gannon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Gavin Brady, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Vestal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Owego Free Academy only posted a batting average of .200.

Vestal's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Owego Free Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.

Looking ahead, Vestal will look to defend their home field on Monday against Ithaca at 5:00 p.m. As for Owego Free Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Norwich at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The River Hawks are facing the Purple Tornado at the right time seeing as the Purple Tornado are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
