Basketball Game Preview: South Putnam Eagles vs. Parke Heritage Wolves

The South Putnam Eagles will face off against the Parke Heritage Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South Putnam has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Parke Heritage will arrive with five straight victories.

Last Wednesday, South Putnam came up short against Indian Creek and fell 56-45.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Parke Heritage had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Wildcats 81-18. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 25 points or more this season.

South Putnam better keep an eye on Emma Simpson. She was instrumental in Parke Heritage's win, going 9 for 10 on her way to 19 points along with seven assists and six steals. Simpson's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addilee Dawn Jenkins, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Parke Heritage was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Parke Heritage has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for South Putnam, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

South Putnam took a serious blow against Parke Heritage in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 66-30. Can South Putnam avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
