Softball Recap: Delran Bears vs. Northern Burlington Greyhounds
Delran lost against Northern Burlington back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bears took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greyhounds.
Delran got a good showing from Mary Masterson, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Masterson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Elaina Faux made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Gemma DeJoseph was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Delran's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Northern Burlington, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-3.
Looking ahead, Delran will look to defend their home field on Friday against Robbinsville at 10:00 a.m. As for Northern Burlington, they will head out to challenge Rancocas Valley on Friday. The Red Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Greyhounds' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
