Baseball Recap: Mitchell Bluejackets vs. West Washington Senators
Mitchell had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-10 to make it five. They came up short against the West Washington Senators, falling 13-3. The Bluejackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Senators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Mitchell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Reeve, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. Reeve has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Brandon Webster also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
As for West Washington, the win keeps they at an undefeated 12-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.5 runs this season.
On West Washington's side, Hayden Morrow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Morrow was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Cole Timberlake was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Brady Rosenbaum was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Mitchell will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Brownstown Central at 5:00 p.m. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bluejackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Washington, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 13-10 loss against Christian Academy on the 10th.
