Baseball Recap: Empire Comes Up Short

Empire lost against Ironwood Ridge back in February of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Ravens lost 19-3 to the Nighthawks.

Empire saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Travis Linkous, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Linkous is becoming a predictor of the Ravens' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

Empire's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-11. As for Ironwood Ridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.

Looking ahead, Empire will welcome Sabino at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ironwood Ridge, they will venture away from home to take on Sahuarita at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
