Softball Game Preview: Firelands Falcons vs. Olmsted Falls Bulldogs

The Firelands Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Firelands is headed out to face Olmsted Falls after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Firelands blew past Open Door Christian 19-3 on Tuesday.

Jeanette Crawford made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Crawford was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrynn Reichle, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Paige Coggins was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Firelands was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Olmsted Falls hadn't done well against North Ridgeville recently (they were 0-7-2 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Olmsted Falls came out on top in a nail-biter against North Ridgeville, sneaking past 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

MOLLY SHEEHAN spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 19 Ks.

On the hitting side, Olmsted Falls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was SOPHIA GALARZA, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
