Baseball Recap: Chaparral Victorious

Chaparral had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Cedar Creek on Friday. The Bobcats never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Bobcats not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 9th (when they won 16-4).

Dylan Herold looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Sebastian Romero was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Belliveau, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Chaparral's victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Cedar Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Chaparral will head out to square off against Harker Heights at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cedar Creek, they will venture away from home to challenge Crockett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
