Basketball Recap: Elbert Bulldogs vs. Cheyenne Wells Tigers
Elbert played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Cheyenne Wells Tigers, falling 43-20. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Tigers are ranked 108th).

Despite the defeat, Elbert saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Piper Warren posted five points and 18 boards. The dominant performance also gave Warren a new career-high in assists (three).
Paige Ryser continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cheyenne Wells, almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. Ryser has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 20 times she's played. Chamille Harrison was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.
This is the second loss in a row for Elbert and nudges their season record down to 9-14. As for Cheyenne Wells, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
