Football Recap: Floresville Takes a Loss

Floresville extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They were outmatched by the El Campo Ricebirds and fell 49-7. The Tigers/Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

As for El Campo, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 23 points or more this season.

El Campo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vladamir Garcia led the charge by rushing for 139 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Garcia's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 123 rushing yards. Derrick Hines was another key back, rushing for 55 yards and one TD.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Floresville is set to face off against their familiar foe Calhoun at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, El Campo will challenge rival Bay City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
