Recap: Northside Eagles vs. Houston County Bears
The Northside Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Houston County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northside in their matchups with Houston County: they've now lost eight in a row.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chastan Brown, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ej Riley, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Northside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 14 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Northside has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Houston County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Howard at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Howard is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Houston County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
