Baseball Recap: Sumner Wins Going Away Against Tampa Bay Tech

Sumner was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Tampa Bay Tech on Thursday. The Sumner Stingrays put the hurt on the Tampa Bay Tech Titans with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Stingrays have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Titans, too.

Juan OValle looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Winston Pennant was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Sebastian Peralta was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Sumner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sumner now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Tampa Bay Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Strawberry Crest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they will take on Blake in a tournament on Saturday. Tampa Bay Tech has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
