Recap: Santa Fe Chiefs vs. Whittier Cardinals
The Santa Fe Chiefs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Whittier 42-8 at home. The result was nothing new for Santa Fe, who have now won five matchups by 24 points or more so far this season.
Tariq Bush continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 207 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Bush was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Santa Fe's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Whittier and 2-7 Pioneer (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.4% over those games). As for Whittier, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
Santa Fe will be playing in front of their home fans against El Rancho at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Rancho has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 24th. Whittier does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
