Lincoln is 8-2 against Tracy since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Lincoln barely beat Del Oro the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 9-1 win on Friday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brayden Glaser looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Xavier Ayala, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Bradley Thurman-Swanson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Tracy had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lodi last Friday, sneaking past 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Flames since April 28, 2023.
Jace Johnson tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Tracy is 4-2 when Johnson allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-9 otherwise.
At the plate, Tracy secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Brady Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Brown has posted since back in February.
Lincoln has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Tracy, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Tracy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Tracy, though, as they've only averaged .341. Will they be able to contain Lincoln's hitters?
