Basketball Game Preview: Hoehne Farmers vs. Kim/Branson Mustangs

The Hoehne Farmers and the Kim/Branson Mustangs will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kim/Branson will be up against a hot Hoehne squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Hoehne took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 75-40 victory over La Veta.

Meanwhile, Kim/Branson waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp 59-37 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mustangs had established a 21 point advantage.

Kim/Branson's win came from a few key players Hoehne will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was David Gamez, who went 5 for 12 en route to 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Cameron Rosas was another key player, putting up five points in addition to eight assists and eight steals.

Kim/Branson pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Hoehne, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-7.

Everything came up roses for Hoehne against Kim/Branson in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 51-24 victory. Will Hoehne repeat their success, or does Kim/Branson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
