Football Game Preview: Eldon Mustangs vs. Hallsville Indians

The Eldon Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Hallsville Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eldon is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

While Eldon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed past Osage to the tune of 50-12 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their 13-point performance the contest before.

The critical scores for Eldon came from Bryce Berendzen and Khale Hammond.

Eldon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 236 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 172 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hallsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They managed a 19-14 victory over Macon on Friday.

Eldon better keep an eye on Landon Cunningham. He was instrumental in Hallsville's win, rushing for 157 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 144 yards on 14 of 32 attempts.

Hallsville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Eldon, their record is now 4-0.

Eldon couldn't quite get it done against Hallsville in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 as they fell 38-29. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
