Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Takes a Loss

Cornerstone Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 8-2 to the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cyclones of the 13-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Josh Kursell put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Kursell wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Hopt, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Hopt's first of the season.

Cornerstone Christian's record now sits at 2-8. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-13-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Christian will take on Tremont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they will face off against Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
