Basketball Recap: Gavin Eddings Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Belleview

Crystal River won against Citrus last Tuesday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Crystal River Pirates snuck past the Belleview Rattlers with a 56-50 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 79-57 back in November of 2024.

Crystal River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Eddings, who posted nine points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Eddings has posted since back in December of 2023. Jordan Dumal was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Several Rattlers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malik Cauthen, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Klima, who put up 13 points.

Crystal River has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 29.3% in those games and 41.8% outside of them. As for Belleview, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Crystal River has already played their next game (against Lecanto), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Belleview has already played their next contest, a 67-31 loss against Lake Weir on the 24th.
