Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Academy Tigers vs. Grace Christian Crusaders

The Trinity Academy Tigers will head out to challenge the Grace Christian Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Trinity Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Cape Fear Academy 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since November 18, 2023.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They breezed past the Patriots to the tune of 87-33. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

Grace Christian's win came from a few key players Trinity Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Caleb Ellis, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Cummings, who earned 15 points.

Grace Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.3 points over those games. As for Trinity Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Everything went Trinity Academy's way against Grace Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2014, as Trinity Academy made off with a 53-29 win. Will Trinity Academy repeat their success, or does Grace Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
