Softball Recap: Salem Takes a Loss

Salem had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it ten. They lost 20-0 to Overbrook. Salem was not able to make up for their loss to Overbrook from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Overbrook, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Overbrook's part, Angelina Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Campbell has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other pitching news, Avani Norton-White looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Alaina Dufresne, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gianna Simon, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Salem will face off against Camden at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Overbrook, they will challenge Gloucester Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
