Softball Game Preview: Long Branch Green Wave vs. Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs

Long Branch is 0-4 against Rumson-Fair Haven since May of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Green Wave will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Neither Long Branch nor Rumson-Fair Haven posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Long Branch fell victim to Monmouth Regional and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 14-0.

Lacey Township hit Rumson-Fair Haven with a seven-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs lost 11-0 to the Lions.

Long Branch's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Rumson-Fair Haven, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Long Branch suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Rumson-Fair Haven when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Green Wave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
