Basketball Recap: Osceola Comes Up Short

If Osceola was riding high fresh off their 47-24 takedown of Liberty last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kowboys took a blow against the Boone Braves on Friday, falling 54-16. The Kowboys have struggled against the Braves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Boone found their leader in sophomore Analia Santana, who went 6-for-13 en route to 19 points. The contest was Santana's fifth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naima Durandisse, who posted three points in addition to 13 rebounds and four blocks.

Osceola's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Boone, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Osceola and Boone could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Kowboys will square off against The First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (529 vs. 84). Meanwhile, Boone (ranked 207th) will meet Altamonte Christian (ranked 101st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
