Recap: Doherty Spartans vs. Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans
The Doherty Spartans waltzed into their contest on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They breezed by Fountain-Fort Carson on the road to the tune of 59-32. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-14.
Doherty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddox Dee-Mortensen led the charge by scoring 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Solomon Latimer, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Doherty is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.
Doherty will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. Doherty knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 contests -- so hopefully Vista Ridge likes a good challenge. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they will head out on the road to square off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is coming into the match with three straight defeats at home, meaning Fountain-Fort Carson will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
