Baseball Recap: Tustin's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Tustin came into Friday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Laguna Hills Hawks on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Tillers: when they faced off against the Hawks back in March, they had to take a 4-1 defeat.

Adam Whyte made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Benally, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March. Roman Lavander was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Tustin's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2-1 and their overall record up to 3-12-1. As for Laguna Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Tustin will square off against Bellflower at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Laguna Hills, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Calvary Chapel at 3:15 p.m. The Hawks are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
