Softball Preview: Addison Bulldogs vs. Cherokee Indians
Addison hasn't had much luck against Cherokee recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Addison Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Cherokee Indians at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Addison has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Addison saw some tournament action on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Decatur Heritage Christian Academy 14-12.
Meanwhile, Cherokee had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-5 win. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Indians this season.
Libby Collum was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, A'Kaiya Spencer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lydia Wallace, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Cherokee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory got Addison back to even at 1-1-1. As for Cherokee, their record now sits at 3-1.
