Basketball Game Preview: Appling County Pirates vs. Pierce County Bears

The Appling County Pirates will challenge the Pierce County Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Appling County will be strutting in after a win while Pierce County will be coming in after a defeat.

Appling County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Telfair County 90-68 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Pierce County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 47-39 to McIntosh County Academy. The matchup was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but the Bears couldn't quite close it out.

Appling County's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Pierce County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Appling County came up short against Pierce County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 62-49. Can Appling County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
