Baseball Recap: Washington County Comes Up Short

Washington County fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bayshore Christian on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 9-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Ty Owens was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Washington County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Williams, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

Washington County's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Bayshore Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-5.

Coming up, Washington County will host Leroy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Bayshore Christian, they will face off against Blacksher at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
