Poth has gone 9-1 against Nixon-Smiley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pirates will square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poth is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Karnes City: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pirates blew the Badgers out of the water with a 42-6 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Pirates had established a 21-point advantage.

Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley is still undefeated this season after their game against Cotulla on Friday, but Cotulla came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Mustangs came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Cowboys. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Nixon-Smiley's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Poth, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Everything came up roses for Poth against Nixon-Smiley in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 39-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
