Baseball Recap: Valley Vikings vs. Cheyenne Desert Shields
Valley extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-9. They lost 21-0 to the Cheyenne Desert Shields. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 20-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2025.
As for Cheyenne, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Considering they have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Cheyenne's part, Tapa Gamoras was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Gamoras has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Alex Garcia, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, Cheyenne will venture away from home to square off against Sunrise Mountain at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley will be paying especially close attention to the Desert Shields' contest: after the Desert Shields face off against the Miners, they'll take on Valley again at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
