Basketball Game Preview: Foard Tigers vs. North Lincoln Knights

Foard is 0-8 against North Lincoln since January of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Foard Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the North Lincoln Knights at 7:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Holden Caldwell and Kellen Karr.

Foard is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They were dealt an 81-41 loss at the hands of East Lincoln. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 614th, while the Mustangs are ranked 106th).

Meanwhile, North Lincoln beat St. Stephens 74-65 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Foard better keep an eye on Karr. He was instrumental in North Lincoln's win, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 18 boards. Karr has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 14 times he's played. Ty Chandler was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

North Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

North Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.0 points per game. As for Foard, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Foard couldn't quite finish off North Lincoln in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 70-68. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Karr, who went 11 of 18 on his way to 25 points along with six boards and five steals.
