Davis Sr. extended their winning streak to eight on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 17-6-1 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rocklin Thunder a 2-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by exactly two runs.

The result came thanks to Cade Castles's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eli Burnham, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Rocklin, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-5. The match marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Rocklin's side, Troy Ueltzen was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Ueltzen gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last four contests.

Davis Sr. will have a chance to go back-to-back against Rocklin: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
