Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Flyers vs. Philip Scotties

The Freeman Flyers will challenge the Philip Scotties at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Freeman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.

Last Tuesday, Freeman took their contest with ease, bagging a 55-28 victory over Hanson. The Flyers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Freeman can attribute much of their success to Rylee Peters, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds, and Cadence Hofer, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 15 points. The game was Peters' sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Vaida Ammann, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Philip lost 61-41 to Lyman on Thursday. The Scotties haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Freeman will have to contain Drew Terkildsen as she made an impact in Philip's last game. She went 7-for-15 on her way to 19 points and four steals. Terkildsen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fayth Martin, who earned ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Freeman pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.4 points. As for Philip, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Freeman has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Philip struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.7 rebounds.
