A feisty cat fight will be fought as Mars Hill Bible Panthers duke it out with Colbert Heights Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Mars Hill Bible 3.3, Colbert Heights 0.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Mars Hill Bible didn't have the best season last year (they finished 17-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Westminster Christian Academy 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
Kelsie McDaniel spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Molly Wright was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Keeli Mullins was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Colbert Heights put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over Phil Campbell. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Addison Holcomb, who fired off three home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted four or more RBI the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Gann, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.
Colbert Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Colbert Heights pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mars Hill Bible, their record is now 8-3.
