Football Game Preview: Sumter County Panthers vs. KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Warriors + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Sumter County Panthers and the KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Warriors will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. KIPP Atlanta Collegiate took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sumter County, who comes in off a win.

Sumter County is returning to their home field after beating Columbus on theirs, despite the fact Columbus has dominated at home this season. The Panthers breezed past the Blue Devils to the tune of 48-3 two weeks ago. With the Panthers ahead 34-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Sumter County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ishmael Jones led the charge by throwing for 241 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. The Panthers' leading receiver Jacques Dice was Jones' top target yet again, picking up 155 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, KIPP Atlanta Collegiate played a tough matchup last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Holy Innocents Episcopal and fell 43-12. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Golden Bears: they've now lost four in a row.

Sumter County will have to contain Christopher Wilson as he made an impact in KIPP Atlanta Collegiate's last game. He rushed for 157 yards. Wilson has become a key player for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-4 otherwise.

The win made it two in a row for Sumter County and bumps their season record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 points in those games. As for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Sumter County has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 155 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like KIPP Atlanta Collegiate struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 196.7 rushing yards.
