Basketball Recap: Braxton County Takes a Loss

Braxton County lost against Gilmer County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Braxton County Eagles were dealt a 66-19 defeat at the hands of the Gilmer County Titans. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Titans are ranked 34th).

Braxton County got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Aubrey Mowery and Bailey Pritt, who each put up four points. Rylan Criner held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Braxton County and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Gilmer County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Braxton County will welcome Nicholas County at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gilmer County, they will head out to face off against Keyser at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keyser will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Gilmer County surely won't give up without a fight.
