Valley Regional scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 39-29 to the Portland Highlanders. The loss leaves the Warriors without a win on the season.

Portland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morganne Pineda, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Kelsey Desmarais was another key player, going 6 for 15 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Valley Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Portland, with the win, they broke their 11-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-9.

Valley Regional will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Morgan at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. As for Portland, they will square off against Cromwell at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
