Baseball Recap: Jackson Day Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Jackson Day brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They never let the Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mariners as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Vermaine Shelton and Caleb Burgin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Shelton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Burgin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave Shelton a new career-low in hits. At the plate, Shelton scored two runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Burgin scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. With that strong performance, Shelton is now averaging an impressive 1.5 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Jackson Day let Dean Lister and Nick Rauch run wild. Lister fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-4, while Rauch scored four runs and stole Five bases. while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs Rauch has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Parson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
