Basketball Recap: Fairview Victorious

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Fairview Knights beat the Centaurus Warriors 45-40. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Fairview can attribute much of their success to Chloe Hickory, who posted 16 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Hickory is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Savage, who scored four points along with six boards and four steals.

Fairview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Centaurus still got an impressive performance from Rose Pacheco, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals.

Fairview is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Centaurus, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairview will take on Holy Family at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Family knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Fairview likes a good challenge. As for Centaurus, they will square off against Silver Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centaurus is facing Silver Creek at the right time seeing as Silver Creek is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
