Preview: Menlo School vs. Priory
Menlo School is 9-0-1 against Priory since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Menlo School Knights will head out on the road to take on the Priory Panthers at 2:45 p.m. Menlo School will be strutting in after a win while Priory will be coming in after a defeat.
Menlo School put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Eastside College Prep 5-0. The high-scoring effort was just what Menlo School needed considering they were shutout in their previous zero contest.
They hit Eastside College Prep with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Alessandro Velazquez (3),
Eric Schmidtke, and
Declan Sitter.
Meanwhile, Priory's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They fell just short of Harker by a score of 2-1. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Priory couldn't quite close it out.
Menlo School pushed their record up to 11-3-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those eight games. As for Priory, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-1.
Menlo School took their victory against Priory when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Menlo School since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
