Recap: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Land O' Lakes Gators
Even though the Mitchell Mustangs have not done well against the Land O' Lakes Gators recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Mitchell enjoyed a cozy 72-57 win over Land O' Lakes. Mitchell pushed the score to 65-39 by the end of the third, a deficit Land O' Lakes cut but never quite recovered from.
Ben Unger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emanuel Beacham, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Land O' Lakes still got an impressive performance from Jordan Massie, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Maxwell Moore was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Mitchell and bumps their season record up to 9-10. As for Land O' Lakes, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Mitchell will head out on the road to challenge Anclote at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Allowing an average of 67.5 points per game, Anclote has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game. As for Land O' Lakes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wiregrass Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wiregrass Ranch's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
